'90 XJ MSD Ignition Coil
I've purchased MSD's 8228 coil for my '90 XJ. I was lead to believe that it was a "plug-and-play" unit. Does anyone know if there's an adapter that will allow the use of this coil? Perhaps I need a different coil?
The stock coil has three prongs (+,+,-) and the module it sits on is plugged in by two connectors coming from the main harness. One connector is a dual with a single yellow wire, other empty. The other connector is a triple with green, black, and yellow wires. The module far right plug is empty.
I've contacted MSD, hasn't responded yet.
Thanks!

From MSD:
Unfortunately we do not offer a direct replacement coil for the 1990 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4.0L. The 8228 is a direct plug-in replacement the stock coil in the 1991 Cherokee up to 1997.
However, not all is lost. The 8228 can be used with this application with a small modification to the stock ignition module and an adapter harness for the 8228.
Although I would recommend using the Blaster SS coil PN 8207 for a little simpler installation (no adapter harness required), the module will still need to be modified though.
Me:
Thanks for the reply. What modifications do I need to make to the ignition module to fit the harness and what harness do I need?
MSD:
The following link is from a wiring harness that we used to offer for this application, it has since been discontinued. Take a look at Figure 2, this is what you'll need to do to provide connections for an external coil.
