Default 90 AX15 external slave swap...

I've dropped my tranny twice in 1 year to replace that damn internal slave cylinder, and both times I had a hell of a time getting the right part... I'm over it. How can I swap to an external slave? what parts do I need and where can I get them? I seen a post about it for a YJ (94 & up) and the guy found the parts for less than $300. Can I do the same with my XJ? I'm dropping it to rebuild it, replacing the flywheel and clutch plate, and Tcase. I really don't want to do all that work then hear that familiar screetching slave, or break a line like I did the last time... and drove 3,000 miles with no clutch...

Yup.... AX15, or I wouldn't even bother with a rebuild!

i think its a 95+ bellhousing, then you will need to swap bearing retainers on the front of your trans. then you need to find all the guts for the throwout...do some google-fu, its been done lots and its something i will try to tackle in the future as well, since i've dropped my trans twice in two years for the stupid slave as well.

Although i gotta say, the last time i did mine i bought a Timken slave from rockauto.com, replaced the master and the clutch line and made sure my fluid was 110% clean as can be. Since then (actually its been about a year now, knock on wood) it shows no sign of leaking.

yeah... i lifted that myself onto the table.VVV what a pain.

diffferent pilot bearing clutch master and the list goes on
