Hey everyone I am new to the jeep scene. I just picked up a 84 2.5l to play with. It was the right price so I couldn't pass it up. I live in Arizona and drive a 100 miles a day to school and back. My question I guess is I have a huge hill to climb and the speed limit is 65. I'm wondering if there are any upgrades ypu can do to these motors to get some extra juice out of them so Im not killing the motor. My other thing is I'm worried about the heat coming up and having issues of running it to hot. Not really sure if these motors are notorious for having any issues or if the are pretty tough. Any ideas on where to start would be great.

Welcome. The 2.5L isn't a rocket by any means but its reliable. There's a fe things you can do as its got a carburetor. There's a Weber carb conversion to breathe better, there's a header for it and Clay Smith makes an AMC 2.5L camshaft for it. Remember that proper gearing goes a long way as well.
Here's a pic of my 4cyl stroker I built for my Comanche. Any questions, you can gladly PM me.
