Default 8.8 swap help

Well guys the 8.8 is finally going into the jeep! By the looks of it though the rear is going to need new shocks. Those of you that have done the 8.8 swap, what size shocks did you go with in the rear? I have about 3.5" of lift. Being that the old axle have under mounted shocks they are too long to be re-usable.. ? BTW I used the swap kit from ruffstuff and loved it!

^ are you sure these would work on a 3-4" lift w/ the 8.8 axle? Because I have the skyjacker hydro's that came with the lift and they are too long due to the fact that the shocks mounts are now above the axle..

Yep, The 5150's are slightly longer than the 5100's though.

I am betting that with that size lift and relocated shock mounts your looking more at a stock length shock. At 4.5" and relocated shock mounts on my 8.25 I had to use 0 to 3" lift shocks

Do the 8.8 swap kits not come with new tabs for shocks? Or does that kit allow u to use the stock 8.8 spots? Never bought dans for the 8.8 yet... If it uses the stock locations or mounts call and ask dan what he says has been working... Frank can help alot too...

Yeah the kit comes with shocks mounts- we just opted to mount them above the axle so there is less chance of dragging them while wheeling...

I can guess at it again, but you really are better off installing the axle and flexing it out and then measuring for the correct length. Without doing so it's really a crap shoot and the odds of getting the correct length aren't in your favor.

It would suck to order the shocks that might be right and then have to go through the hassle of returning them and waiting for a second set to be delivered.

Make sense?
