Default 8.8 ruffstuff shock mounts

Hey all,

So I will be putting in the 8.8 this weekend and the only question I have is about the shock mounts. I plan to have the shocks at the same angle but on my D35 the shock is able to pivot around the stud where as with the ruffstuff shock mounts it seems like it would bind when flexing. Am I wrong? Do I need to mount the shock mount at the same angle as the shock?

These are just mock up photos of what I am talking about, not the exact location they will be in.

yeah it would be a good idea to angle them a bit. I've ran them straight up and down but my shocks were so cheap at the time I didn't care. the bushings suffered but nothing bad ever came from it.

you are running the passenger side shock on the opposite side of the tube correct?

And don't forget to fully weld the axles tubes to the center.

I'm only running rough country shocks so it's not a big deal. Yes I am going to mount them on opposing sides of the axle.

you only have to weld about 3/4 of the way around the tubes.

Ruffstuff makes a mount that is orientated correctly.

I'd go a little more than that.. maybe like 4 2" welds all the way around? or weld 25% of the back side of the axle tube and 25% on the front side. idk.
