For that reason, I went with the same style that ohio95xj has.
I bought the proper mount. I don't have that issue.

This will mount the shock properly.

I wanted to elaborate on this further.

The zone one is a nice bracket, but it's twice as much as the ruffstuff. Which is ridiculous.

It's single shear and provides less protection for the bottom shock mount.

It'd be very easy to box the bottom of the RS mount and make it really strong, which is what I intend to do. I don't see the point in basically using a stock mount style that you have to weld on.

For the price of the zone you could have gotten an insanely beefy RS mount with a really really good design.

When I did my 8.8 swap I got the RuffStuff kit. I ran into the same issue, why would you get a shock tab to weld square to the axle for an angled upper shock mount? Well, spent plenty of time on the grinding wheel to massage the tabs to fit. I cant remember the exact angle I clocked them at but I want to say 11 degrees (taken from the shock hanging from the upper mount to where they would meet the axle).

Looking back, another option may have been better because this moved the lower shock mount up a lot (sorry, I don't have a measurement). Now my rear shocks are completely shot and I'm looking to either move the upper mount up but there isn't really anywhere to go... I'm considering moving to, god forbid, stock rear shocks. Obviously this is going to kill down travel but... It's my DD and I need to run a shock. I like the added clearance of having the tabs up on the axle but you still have to clear the pumpkin so it seems like kind of a moot issue. Any thoughts/opinions?

Note: this photo was taken before I finished my brake lines.

I never said it didn't. I said from an engineering and strength standpoint it's a poor design. There are better designed brackets out there for less price.

Axle looks good.

I don't think it's a moot issue moving the shocks vs clearing the pumpkin. There may be less clearance in the center, but there's definitely more on the outside. Which is beneficial.

As far as the shock thing. I can see going to a stock length shock because of moving the shock mount up. I am thinking the same thing actually. I can probably find some Bilstein 5100s that are stock length and get them for a decent price.

As far as the ruffstuff bracket, I do know that the shock bracket he includes is probably not the best for the application. I think he should include one like I linked before, it would have been less modification to get it to work. I wonder if you can make substitutions to the kit to get a shock mount like we would need.
