Default 6.5 with 35's. Bad news?

I have been considering going 6.5 long arm lift with 35's.
No frame stiffening
stock 8.25 rear
napier precision flares

I have heard horror stories about the uni-body going over a 4.5 lift.

What are reasons I should steer away from this set up, if any?
What precautions should I take if I go through with it?

I am about there, 35's and 6" of lift. I have full plating of the rails from front bumper to rear bumper, sliders ect... (I am at 6" because I want to fit 37's and be street legal and not chop it up more then flares allow) Honestly the lift height has nothing to do with the stress of the body. a 2" lift with 33-37's can cause the same damage as a 6" lift and 33-37's... its how you wheel it, what you do with it ect... I would try and be at 4.5-5.5" of lift with 35's, I loved mine at 5.5" and 35's. 6.5" is fine, but you start to get more top heavy the higher you go. the lower the better IMO.

I think you should always reinforce the rails if your going to wheel it, no matter the tires size, once you start flexing the body its all down hill, no matter the lift or tires size.

You will need a SYE, I would also make sure your steering is up to the task.

Thanks for your input. I ended up installing a rough country suspension.

That thing is murdered out!

It looks good but start saving your money again. If you didn't do it with the lift, you'll need a SYE, shims for the rear (if they weren't attached to the leaf packs), and a steering kit for the near future... along with all the other things you'll start to find that need to be replaced since you lifted it. Enjoy the build because you just opened a FUN can of worms.

Nice rig. What tires/wheels did you go with? I'm also going 5.5" with 35s, one fine day. When I get the cash.
