Default 4x4 conversion

Need a quick couple of questions to clarify...

I have a 95 XJ and I'm converting it to 4x4 this summer. I have a 96 XJ parts truck with the 242 t case.

I'd like to use a 231 case, can I just bolt one up to the 96 4x4 trans and no mods needed?

Are 95-96 compatible so the wiring is just plug and play?

How does the boostwerks linkage work? Does it run directly from the 4x4 shifter to the t case eliminating the bracket?

Yes the Boostwerks goes from lever to tcase. It does away with all the oem linkage.

Yes a 96 tcase should work in your 95 no problem. There was an input shaft change but I believe it was earlier, 91 or 93 maybe.

I think you will need a different rear driveshaft, or mods done to what you've got.

its a slow process as of now .. Between college and work I have no time. I'm just tearing the 96 apart so I can part it out this summer

I meant for the NP231 you wish to use. Your parts truck has a np242 right?

yeah I'd like to just trade someone even up for a 231. The 231 is a little cheaper and easier to work on IMO

As far as the tcase wiring? The plug should work with either case, just pull the pigtail from the donor and plug it in on yours.
