4.88 gears
Why do people not put them in the 8.25 and use 4.56 even if they are running 35s or 33s for tires.
Is it to much stress on the axle to have it that low of gearing or something else?

Some people like 4.88's and 33's

Same thing for 35's...
After using 4.56's for 33's I would recommend this for anyone who plans to run a 33" tire, it was a perfect combo for me. good rpms on highway, better gas mileage then I had with 31's and stock gears.
But I would recommend 4.88's for 35's as with 4.56's its doable and no real complaints, but when I am loaded up with gear headed to the trail/Moab ect, Hills are a bit slower and seams to be just under ideal rpm, and lower side of the power band... Just my opinion.
Cost can also play a role IIRC... the 4.88's are a bit more $

There is no break on the 8.25 carrier.
I can't recall ever seeing 4.88's for the 8.25, the lowest I can remember seeing is 4.56. 4.88's everywhere for D30's and d35's.
Point me to a 4.88 for the 8.25 if you have a link please.
