Depends on what compression you run.

Not to be a dick, but there is tons of info out there on this. There are lots of routes you can take to make all kinds of power. I looked pretty deeply into it back in the day. There are homebrew strokers, kits you can buy of all levels, even complete crate motors.

A few years ago, there was an episode of "Trucks" where did a project "Cheap Jeep." They dyno'd the tired 4.0, then stroked it. Used a Dremel on the head around the valves to lower compression. I think they ran 89 octane in it. They dyno'd it after. Big difference. Most of that episode is on YouTube, I think.

dont swap in a chrysler 5.2/318, if its one from a grand cherokee or dodge dakota or similar you aren't gaining much power from the swap. the stroker will be bolt in and much less of a headache. you can build one to run on 87 octane, just gotta do your research.

These should be the 4 episodes of project "Cheap Jeep", that pertain to the HO 4.0 Stroker build.

Jeepstrokers.com Go to faqs. Then Stroker recipes to get you an idea. Then read through other faqs to learn more. Search. And read. Learn.

thats where I learned all my info. very helpful faqs and compression calculator which will tell you your dynamic compression ratio (close guess anyway) you can build it to run any fuel grade and get wide range of power as well. biggest thing is how deep are your pockets? I left it with higher compression to run 91 octain (highest at my elevation) as the extra $$ to get it to run 89 just wasn't worth a 8-11 cents per gal difference. in a 15 gal tank thats an extra $1.65 per tank... for me that would only save me about $80 a year in fuel. just throwing that out there.

I could probably get away with 89 at my elevation of 4300 ft. but I want to feel right about getting on the gas Good luck! I am hopefully installing mine in 2 weeks! (all assembled and ready to put it)
