They're all different you might you might not. But I'd def put it on since you have it. Yeah you will need a new drive shaft or get another front ds and you can use that

I'm at 4.5 and 33s and I got away with it with just a transfer case drop but when I'm around 60 mph I get vibes and I've been told it's because I need a longer driveshaft But if you already have the sye do it when I get the money I'm getting a sye and longer driveshaft it will be better

Put the sye in. Seems anything over 3-3.5" and ya want it. But! Check u joints cause your gonna want to take care of that while axel is out! There should be NO play in a good u joint.
I agree w/ xj101..

personally i only like to do things once. and im sure u'll want it in the near future . plus if u blow a rear shaft/joint in the bush u can easily remove it and drive home fwd and not loose copious amounts of fluid. done this many times lol!

from my experience anything over 4.5" on 1997-up cherokees needs sye and d-shaft...for 4.5" you should use the t-case drop and the degree shims for the rear axle...for under 4.5" just the t-case drop.........but every cherokee is different somehow and you just may need it...

Are shims only used with the SYE and CV type drive shaft(like what is on the front)?

I am fixing to go up to 5" and was going to do just a t-case drop for now and see what happened. Don't plan on doing any serious wheeling. Light off-roading more likely.

Just wondering, why 5" for light off roaring? 3.5 and 33's is pretty decent... Use the money you saved in height and put into something more useful: a locker! Just my 02

put it in so u dont waste your time with a t-case drop and if u go higher its there and dont have to worry about it. i have a stock rear shaft with a hnt and works great with no issues at 6in lift.

no you would not use shims with sye and d-shaft their for use instead of that what the do is mount underneath your leafs and tilt the axle backwards to correct pinion angle

For looks mostly. I bought a 3" RC lift off of here brand new from a member for $400 with full leaf packs. New it is $600 plus shipping. Hard to pass up a deal like that.

I already have 2" on it, coil spacers and shackles. I was going to add the 3" to it. Bought a new track bar and drop pitman arm to go with it. Was going to use washer for the t-case drop (because I am a cheap skate).

What height lift are you running? Do you have a SYE and CV drive shaft?

I know where the shims mount but I saw somewhere online that with the SYE and CV drive shaft you want to tilt the pinion with shims where on just the stock rear drive shaft you want to keep the pinion and the transfer case parallel so using a t-case drop would accomplish that.

If I find the article again I will post it on here.
