They're all different you might you might not. But I'd def put it on since you have it. Yeah you will need a new drive shaft or get another front ds and you can use that

Put the sye in. Seems anything over 3-3.5" and ya want it. But! Check u joints cause your gonna want to take care of that while axel is out! There should be NO play in a good u joint.
I agree w/ xj101..

personally i only like to do things once. and im sure u'll want it in the near future . plus if u blow a rear shaft/joint in the bush u can easily remove it and drive home fwd and not loose copious amounts of fluid. done this many times lol!

from my experience anything over 4.5" on 1997-up cherokees needs sye and d-shaft...for 4.5" you should use the t-case drop and the degree shims for the rear axle...for under 4.5" just the t-case drop.........but every cherokee is different somehow and you just may need it...

I am fixing to go up to 5" and was going to do just a t-case drop for now and see what happened. Don't plan on doing any serious wheeling. Light off-roading more likely.
Just wondering, why 5" for light off roaring? 3.5 and 33's is pretty decent... Use the money you saved in height and put into something more useful: a locker! Just my 02

put it in so u dont waste your time with a t-case drop and if u go higher its there and dont have to worry about it. i have a stock rear shaft with a hnt and works great with no issues at 6in lift.

no you would not use shims with sye and d-shaft their for use instead of that what the do is mount underneath your leafs and tilt the axle backwards to correct pinion angle

I already have 2" on it, coil spacers and shackles. I was going to add the 3" to it. Bought a new track bar and drop pitman arm to go with it. Was going to use washer for the t-case drop (because I am a cheap skate).
