I'm always interested in threads about running something larger than a 31 on a 3 inch lift. I have 31s on my XJ right now and it really looks like I could clear something larger like a 32 or 33. 35s would be a little on the large side though. You'd have to trim most of your front fenders away and the rears would need some trimming too.
Spacers would be a good idea, but they put tons of stress on your hubs and lugs. It would be better to run wheels with tons of backspacing like what I have.
Also, with the 35s you'll need to regear to 4.10 or lower.

Not necessarily.. backspaced wheels attach to the lugs directly, whereas wheels with spacers attach indirectly and add a lot more stress.
By extending the lugs (which is basically what spacers do), there is tons more leverage.

Makes sense about the hubcentric spacers, the rims on my XJ have been on there since the PO had it and I'm guessing they're about 5 years old. No problems so far lol.
Where they may be ''safe'' to some, other would see adding extra.moving parts/faseners to a place that is already a high stress point as a stupid move, esp if other, less complicated options are available.

This is very true I was just pointing out spacers in terms of wear and tear on hubs and such were no different than bs on a rim
