Well of course they do haha. But when they get worn down enough, they're more expensive, no? DDing 37s just isn't for me. Looks great, but I can't shell out the money for them. If it was a trail rig, yeah.
Something to consider maybe. Still debating on what to do. Either beefing up my axles and coverting my 8.25 to a 29 spline or an axle swap. I'm leaning towards beefing up what I have.

I daily drive my XJ on 35s and 4.88s about 70 miles a day couple times a week and it does fine. I've got some steering angles to sort out so it's got pretty bad bumpsteer and it's a beast to keep straight on anything but a nice flat paved interstate but nothing a guy can't handle. Never have had death wobble or anything. Compared to my WJ it's a chore to drive, but if it was my only rig it wouldn't be a big deal.

If I had to do the gearing all over again id still go 4.88. I like it. On 35s it's a little bit lower than stock gearing on stock tires. I still have the stock speedo gear in and at 60mph on my gps the speedo says 69. I can't remember for sure but I think 60mph is about 2400rpm. Stock was closer to 2200. I have a steering box brace, adjustable track bar, drop bracket, and drop pitman. Also have a rustys tie rod but that doesnt help my angles.

So would 4.56 make it peppier? I'll be doing quite a bit of highway driving so I don't want to have issues merging and keeping up with the 70mph speed limit.
I'll have to get a steering box brace, along with a reman box. My wheel has play, so I'm sure it's going out. Friends did the Durango swap but they don't like it.

4.88s will be peppier, at the cost of higher rpms on the highway. But nothing that is crazy high. I wish I could have gone even lower but that's as low as you can go on d30/8.25. I'm also locked in the rear and and done a good amount of wheeling on the smaller pinion gear without any issues.
I guess I would have gone with 4:88's if I knew I was going to end up on 35's but at the time I regeared I was happy as hell with 33's but I should have known that I would end going bigger bc bigger is always better lol

I'd keep my 4.88s even if I went to 31s haha. Talk about wheelie popping power, I wish I still had my stock tires, thus thing would be a blast to drive!
