285 is the "section width" of the tire (sidewall to sidewall) it is very different than "tread width" which is the part of the tire that is actually touching the road.
It is close to a 33" wider than a 10.50, skinnier than a 12.50.
Most brands that advertise a "33" are tires that actually measure /less/ than 33".
My 265/75- 16 Goodyears measure a an actual 32" tall.

[{(Metric mm size / 25.4) inch x aspect ratio} x 2] + rim size inch = height inch
Metric mm size / 25.4 = width inch
Use that to calclate and compare metric sizes to Inch listed sizes.
Say a typical tire: 235-75R 15
235/25.4 = 9.25 inch width
9.25in x 0.75 %aspect ratio = 6.94 inch x 2 top&bottom of tire = 13.88 inch
13.88 + 15 rim = 28.9 inch tire height
So expressed as inch tire: 29-9.25 x 15
Metric mm size / 25.4 = width inch

Search it on the forum. What are you lookin for M/T or whatnot, if you are more specific in what kinda tire you are looking for it will be more helpful for others and yourself. What do you plan to use it for, mud, rock dd, combined, etc....

To figure how tall (diameter) of a tire do the following.
Let's take a 235 75 15.
235/25.4=9.2519685. That is converting the width of the tire from mm to inches.
9.2519685 x .75=6.9389764. This the height of one sidewall.
That times 2=13.877953. This the height of both sidewalls.
That plus 15 (rim diameter) is 28.877953.
That is the height of a 235 75 15.
To figure other tires just change your width, aspect ratio, and rim numbers.
Width/25.4 x aspect ratio x 2 + rim.
