Question 3 in. suspension lift PLUS spacer kit?

Ive got a 3 inch skyjacker full suspension lift on my jeep and i want to go a little bigger. I dont have the money or even want to put alot of money into my jeep for a whole new lift kit. its a 91 with 250,000 miles on it.
would putting a 2inch spacer lift kit WITH the 3 inch suspension lift work. im trying to look a little bigger and fit 33s.
I would think that would work just fine and the spacer kit i found is only 179 so thats pretty cheap. would this be unsafe or not work for any reason?
Lemme know what you think about doing something like that please, sounds like a good idea to me but id like to get some more opinions or information about doing this.

short answer is YES you CAN do it...

the long answer is this:

$179 for a 2" budget boost? NO WAY! that is WAY TOO MUCH MONEY

I make 2" all steel coil spring spacers for $45 shipped per pair...

or you can buy the Poly spacers (which eventually turn to dust) for about $39 shipped on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/84-01...ht_2442wt_1165

then you need a lift shackle... the Superior Automotive 13-4100 lift shackle will work perfectly... it is well made and beefy! best of all you can get it at almost any major auto parts store and it is only $35

however, the problem is you will need new upper and lower control arms, new brake lines, new track bar, new shocks... a slip yoke eliminator and double cadan rear drive shaft (a transfer case drop might work BUT I DOUBT IT A 5"+), you will most likely need to address the steering as well with at least a 1-2" drop pitman arm... maybe other things too...

What he said. In other words, adding the other 2 inches can come cheap, but the other modifications needed to support 5" lift won't be cheap. And we haven't even begun to address driveability issues yet. There's much more to it than simply adding 2".

As stated above.... there isn't a super cheap way to go to anything above 3in w/o changing quite a few items... I am currently in the same place. Have a BDS 3" want to go 2" Spacer - Plastic $35 or JKS Acos- $250 and RC Shackle - $50. That will put me to 5" give or take but it's the driveline/yoke + addition of different control arms... etc... I'm looking around 1-2k to do the full swap... that being said you could prob do it for 3-400 if you looked around and went used parts and did the work yourself. oh and then you need to get your tires its a never ending cycle man... but best of luck.. and dont buy cheap kits w/o knowing what else you need to do the swap... just searching around on here you will learn so much,,, disheartens you a bit sometimes but you DO enjoy YOUR jeep more.

Oh.. wow..
Thats alot more than i thought i had to do but thank you very much for the insight.
Im definitely going to do it all myself so that saves a bit i guess.
Im interested in those 2" steal spring spacers
And i was thinking about going with leaf spring blocks for the rear maybe both blocks and shackles because the back is sagging about an inch.
now what else do i need?
1 upper control arms (what kind? Longer? About $200 a pair?)
2 lower control arms (what kind? Longer? About $200 a pair?)
3 track bar (about $200?)
4 brake lines (about $90?)
5 Shocks (what about some sort of different mounts to for the skyjacker shocks i have?)
6 pitman arm with drop (about $75)
7 slip yoke eliminator ( about $200)
8 rear drive shaft ($400?!)
What else on top of that as well?

Screw the blocks, get (or make) a shackle relocation bracket to make up for the sag and it will give you the adjustable shackle angle. On all the other stuff you priced, shop around- there is just too many options.

Sounds like a pretty good plan. Might think about some upgraded steering.
