I recently lifted my 99 2wd XJ. I have a 3" rough country lift (just coils/add leaf and shocks) and I'm running 33x12,5 tires. I was wondering if I need to do anything else to it to avoid any headaches later on. Like drop the cross member holding my transmission or anything like that. My rear axle is a c8.25

The cross member drop is only for the transfer case (4wd), and even then it's only considered a bandaid fix. Did you get longer brake lines? LCAs will recenter your front wheels so they aren't pulled too far back. You'll get rubbing issues with those tires unless you're running a large backspace and did some trimming.

 

You're honestly in for plenty of headaches running 33's with 3" of lift. There are plentyyyy of lift threads here. Start reading up

Straighten your front brake hard lines for the extra travel. You will need/want longer shocks and an aftermarket/adj. track bar. For this I recommend the IRO double shear TB/mount.
Being 2WD, driveline vibs should be a non-issue.

 

gears. youll want to regear. 32+3.73 highway for and the auto trans was unhappy. if your auto i bet 33 are not making your transmission happy.

 

Oh yeah, I forgot about these important parts.

 

With a 33" tire and a AW4 trans you need a 4.56 gear to make it back to stock gearing ratio (3.55). Your speedometer gear needs to be changed also for the correct speed to show. The stock 3.55's will be a real dog and very hard on the trans and engine.


Along with what the others mentioned when you change the gears you should consider a rear locker install as no extra for labor involved. You will be amazed at how well you can do off road with the rear locked on your 2wd XJ.


You also may need to do some trimming for clearance for the 33x12:50's I did when I was at 3" on my 99XJ.
