Default 2WD lift question.. Trans Drop?

So right now my xj is 2wd. I have the junkyard parts to make it 3-4" higher. I know with 4wd it is best to do drop the T-Case down. Do i need to do anything to the 2wd to drop anything down to make the angle better????

Please help. Thank you.

You can drop the tranny crossmember the same way you would for a t-case. Just depends if you have any vibes or not. I had a machine shop make me some solid steel 1" blocks. Got rid of my vibes. But mine is a temporary fix until I do the 4x4 conversion... one day.

That looks good. Did you do that bc you had to or did you do it just to make sure you don't have future issues?

I had 4* shims and came across the tranny drop (2wd also) for my 6" lift (3.5" pack with a 2.5" shackle which already pushed my pinion angle upwards). When I came across the drop, I put that in because it's better due to the shims having a history of cracking since most are aluminum. Long story short, every rig is different some will vibe and some won't. But, if you have the vibes, start with the tranny drop, then work from there.

I had some pretty bad vibes at low speed and the yoke was probably one good bump away from falling out... Maybe not that close, but too close for comfort.

After I put this on everything was good. No vibes and gave me a little more piece of mind.

I keep hearing that each XJ is different, so you may not have any problems at all. I would put the lift on and address any issues that come up. No need putting extra strain on the motor mounts if you don't need to.

Thank you both for the help and advice. I will just try it and see what happens.
