What does it take to change from a 27 spline shaft in a 8.25 to a 29? is it simple slide in? I know simple question but can't find an answer seems like everyone but me knows.

Just buy a whole new 29 spline axle, and save your self the headache!

ya that does sound like a pain. But say i did get a new one wouldn't i need to find one with matching gears. and to reset it just to make sure i understand it right, i have to tighten one side then the other to get the carrier aliened with the wring and pinion, (so the teeth are fitting tight)

All you need to do is change the axles and the spider gears in the carrier. There is no need to take the carrier out and re-set the backlash on the ring and pinion...Tj

your right, thanks for clearing that up. the side gears are what hold the splines not the carrier.

So you can just slip out the spider gears past the carrier

So i just take the pin out pull the shafts out pull the spider gears. Do it in reverse and call it a day. That doesn't seem to horrible.

Very easy. Just take out the 8mm bolt then pop out the pin and push axles in and take off C clips then axles will come out and spiders also...Tj
