265s are basically 31" tires. Most 3" lifts will clear that. If you wheel it you may find it necessary to trim a tiny bit of the back of the front flare (doubtful)with the 265s.
Maybe not if you don't install sway bar disconnects.
It'll be a bit more "peppy" with the 245s if you're a heavy footed driver, but really it's splitting hairs unless you drive like there's an egg under the pedal lol.
I don't know what offset your wheels are compared to stock offset but with the wider 65s you may have a bit of rubbing on the lower control arms at full lock steering. If the wheels are spaced out a bit more than stock though, then you're golden.
Personally I'd go with the 265's regardless.

265's without a doubt. Just FYI those treadrwights are just shy of most 285's they may need a little extra trimming vs normal 265's

Not at all 31's. a 265 can be a 20" tall tire or a 40" tall tire.

find the height tire that you want. With a 3" lift you can fit 31s and 32s with some trimming. 30s with less and 33s with a bunch more. Most run 10.50 width tires which are 265s, but you can run 245s, 275s, 305s, etc. for a roughly 31 inch tire, just have to find a tire with the proper aspect ratio to get you there.

i'd run a 265.. depending on the tire, but it will be close to a 32.

245 is closer to a 31..

even tho standard sizes say "31x10.50", the height varies on the manufacturer and will be in most cases, less than 31", 32" etc...

You will have to trim for 265, but you will most likely go up in tire size later, so save the money and do it now.

for 285s.. u will DEFINITELY have to trim. that is a 33. It's possible to keep the stock flares, but you u will have to trim a lot and move them up and cut the bottoms of the flares off. also 33s will start really affecting your power and fuel economy. id stick w/265.

i ran 34s on my last xj on about 4.75".. had to trim quite a bit, but still kept my flares.

a 285 is a 11.22" wide tire, nothing to do with height...

Yeah alot of people don't understand 285 stands for the tire width 16 is the rim and 65 is the percent ratio for the sidewall height. Look up metricto standard tire size caculators online. This will help clear up what those numbers mean.

yes, but OP mentioned treadwright tires. if you look at the site, for a 285 (16"), they only sell a 75 = 33x11...

This is probably based off my comment. I stated that the 265/75R16s that come from treadwright are almost as tall as my cooper 285/75R16s and was pointing out he should plan accordingly.

I run 245/75R16 on Ford Explorer wheels, no issues with 2" lift (Street driving, not wheeling) The Ford wheels have a little (more?/less?) backspacing than the original jeep wheels, giving more lower control arm clearance - they only just touch if I'm flexed at full lock. I have a set of WJ lower control arms to put on, but don't need them with these wheels. I would think 265's would fit OK with 3" lift (for street use)
