I blew out my 242 T-case. I have a buddy who has a 241 DLD case that he will give me no cost, I've read that you can use 241 guts in a 231 case, has anyone swapped a complete case in? I wouldn't bother with any of this except it's free

 

I'm not sure what a DLD case is. The 231, 241, and 242 were used in several vehicle brands but used different mounts and inputs so most won't swap over. One out of a 91 model XJ has a different input spine count than your 89 model just FYI.

 

It's Dodge Light Duty, The also have a DHD version out of the 1 tons and larger trucks IIRC.

I was thinking similar, I wonder since the 241 and 231 parts are interchangeable if I couldn't swap out the input shafts to work, as the 241 is just a beefier version of the 231??? I guess I'll see in a day or two when it shows up
