so ive been working on my jeep for about 2 months now 2000 jeep cherokee sport 4x4 4.0 i6 this is what happened i was driving one day my gauges quit working and i could no longer shift automatically i had to shift manually if i shifted to OD it would stay in the OD gear and not downshift i got a NO BUS code on the odometer at that time i was able to pull code off the CPU i kept getting a p1698 no ccd bus message from tcm so i tried a different PCM and TCM got the same problems driving it home that day it completely died in the middle of the road ASD relay wigging out fuel pump on and stayed on the no bus code wont go away now before it would only come on when my gauges would quit and had shifting problems CANNOT PULL A CODE hasnt started since this is what i tried
*cleaning battery terminals and all conection to fuse box
*re did all grounds
*checked all fuses and cleaned them up
*checked wiring behind dash
*unpluged every sensor i could find one by one
*cleaned CPU conections
*checked all CPU wiring ripped all tape and heat shielding off
*checked all fuse box conections

today i am buying a computer for it crank position sensor throttle position sensor and probly a speed sensor 3 thing that i was told could have caused this does anyone else have any ideas because i fear ima spend this money and it not work and i do not have the 1000+ $ to spend at dealer...

Doesn't seem hard if you can do a little wiring, let us know how it goes.

Well check to see if you have continuity in the harness between the TCM and PCM. Sounds like an open or short somewhere in there.....

the cluster seems fine i had already ripped it apart and checked for corrosion there was nothing it was all clean all the wires were good no melted wires... im trying to find a wiring diagram for the tcm and pcm before i was able to unplug the tcm and it would still run tho i did not get a computer today salvage yards were closed but now instead of just the asd relay turning on and off its all the relays under the hood when this first happened i thought they all were but when i got it home to check them it was just the asd relay i put a crank sensor in it today ordered a tps but i still dont think thats it... i went further with checking wires started checking to see if any were grounded that wasnt suppose to be didnt find nothing

Newby online so here we go. I have a 2000 Cherokee sport I replaced the battery 1 week ago thinking it was bad, not well I think it's the computer because when I try to start it will do nothing no lights, radio nothing! But here's the rub I'll turn the key back to off and try it again and it will start, sometimes, it may take a few times of turning the key back and forth. Once it starts everything is fine lights, radio charging system I thought it may even be the neutral safety switch, not! Can you please help me, Thanks for the reply.

Didn't you post this in Ask A Question? Digging up unrelated posts from over a year ago isn't going to help you
