i know how to cut the hinge on the older doors but has anyone pinned or cut on the newer doors. couldnt find a write up...

yeah and like i said i like the second one better cause that way you dont have to deal with as many pins and it seems like its so much easier

 

I did the second one. My bronze bushings were crap so I popped them out and used M10 - 1.50 x 90 bolts which fit perfect in the frame part of the hinge. You would then need to drill out the holes on the door side of the hinge using a 25/64" drill bit to match. Make sure you roll down your windows first so they are easier to carry.

 

Hmm.. my hinges arent cut and mine comes off real easy and mine lines up perfect(ish) but if you take your hinge off you door just know chances are it WONT go back on right.

Good luck you'll need it if your going to take the hinges off.

 

What if yuo cut them still on the door with one of those small 1/8 grinding wheels? I feel like that would work a lot better??

 

thats what they did and it lined up perfect. ive already had my doors on and off a million times and i have to bolt em on and off. its a pain. i used to work at a body shop so im good at re-aligning them but i hate doing it so theyre usually off some. im gonna take my time and align em then cut the hinge while doors are on so i dont have to dick with it after their cut.

 

Good idea on aligning them first, but there is still a good chance you might have to realign them after. That's because once you weld the new bolts in they might not be in the exact same angle as the stock ones pins. This will make it so that they line up differently and need some minor adjustment. That was just my experience at least but hopefully it will work for you.

 

take fender off so you can see the hinges when you weld em and ya wouldnt have that problem...

 

hmm so you would mount the door, put the cut bolts into the hinge, close it with the fender removed and weld the pins in like that not a bad idea at all. I might do this for the rear when I do those accept just remove the front doors.

 

for the rears you could just open the fronts instead of removing them. theres plastic covers on the hinges you pop off from the front door side.

 

I found the rears were even easier to weld and align (I didn't even have to realign my rears), and they weigh WAY less than the fronts do
