Utah, is definitely one of the places I have on my "Bucket List" of 4wheeling spots. I have an old retired Navy CPO buddy who now lives in Ogden. He works on the Airforce base there. Now, that I have my new Duramax tow rig, he says to get a trailor and bring the Jeep down to his place so we can go on down and 4wheel Moab. I want so badly to wheel Moab. It's one of the most famous 4wheeling spots in the country.

Thanks BuckB91XJ! You think just like me so far. A rear mount tire is what I was thinking. I imagine that it would mount to an off road bumper that I haven't purchased yet. I guess I'll check my catalog, and see what bumper goes with the proper spare tire mount. You sound fun to dig with! I don't really care for the look of the tire on the top either especially if you can afford what's needed to make a rear mount. Thanks again for the info, and the funny stories... I think that's awesome. I'll have a spare to protect my rear soon. lol...

By the way, if anyone sees this post, I would be interested to see what people think my Jeep is worth. Other than what is posted about my Jeep in previous posts, it has 80,000 miles, and was owned by a mechanic at a car dealership so it's been very very well maintained and hardly used. I don't think it was ever used for digging before it came into my hands. The additions to the Jeep were brand new, and just installed a few months before he had to sell it. It also has a touch screen stereo, and two amps under the back seat, with a 12" MTX sub in the back cargo facing towards the rear. Before the Mechanic got hold of it, it was owned by a professional car stereo dude. The stereo rocks! I know it's just an addition, but it was fairly new as well. Under the hood is immaculate. I know it's hard to believe, but it really looked like a brand new Jeep even though it's a 2000. Interior is immaculate as well. I bought it from the mechanic guy. I forget the name of the wheels, but most people ask me where I got them, and say they are hard to find. I get more compliments on the wheels than I do the Jeep. lol... I'll let you know that I did pay a premium, and I know it. But so far I think it was worth every penny of it. Nothing is rusty underneath, and the red coil springs are new as well. You won't offend me with any prices, Please give me your guesses on the value. It's as well taken care of as any vehicle I've ever seen or owned except for a show car. I've been a mustang guy, so I probably over paid. Add 1,000 to whatever you think the jeep is worth just for the stereo stuff. It's easily worth that. Educated guesses on the value please???

Your jeep set up the way it is, with the kickin stereo and immaculate condition and low miles...yeah, I said low miles because 80K miles on an 11 year old rig is awesome! I'd say that Jeep could go for 7-10K dollars in Washington easily, depending on whether you bought it from a private owner or a stealership...haha...dealership. Probably even more from a dealership.

My poor old 91 has 268K hard earned miles on it but, it just keeps on starting at a turn of the key evertime. Love my XJ!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. Moab is one of the greatest digging places in the country. Especially rock crawling. I can't do any of the serious stuff down there. It's incredible what Moab has to offer. I'm only a couple hours away. I go to little Moab a lot, and so far there's nothing my jeep can't handle except for rock crawling/boulder crawling. There are rock shelves, that go up and down at a 60 degreee angle that my jeep handles fine, as long as I won't bottom out, it will do it. The tires are like glue. My buddy spins and burns, but mine just creeps right up and over. I think it's due to the low gears, and great tires, and the posi of course. Anyone that see's me climb says, "I would do that, but I don't have lockers on my Jeep." I respond and say, Neither do I. lol... It's an awsome feeling. My jeep is nothing like your guys, but it's a sleeper, don't let it fool you, but I also take alot more risks than I should. I'll take some photos next time and show what this sleeper can do. I'm totally impressed with Jeeps now. It'll crawl steep enough to flip it right over backwards. lol... I've got into Jeeps when i rolled my friends. lol... I did pay him exactly what he paid a few months before, after we crawled out of the front where the windshield used to be. Yes we ended up resting upside down with every window busted clean out and the top totally smashed in, and now he has a better Jeep. lol... lol... it's funny now, but wasn't so funny then, but on the other had it was very fun to be in it while it was rolling. A very expensive amusement park ride. It's one of my funnest moments. I'll still take it to the edge, but not quite that far, if I can help it. I just have to see what the limits are, and with mine I think I know. I've tested it pretty well.

Hey Buck. I hope you don't mind me calling you Buck. From other posts I've seen, people have stated quite low prices for other Jeeps. Granted, they had many more miles etc... When I purchased it, It had 75,000 miles as you can see in one of the photos above of the odometer. I'll let you know what I paid soon. I want to see it any one else gives me their opinion on the value. I did buy it from the mechanic that worked at the dealership, but not from the dealership directly.

Anyone else, feel free to give me your opinion on the value of my Jeep. I'm just curious, and since I'm going to buy another one, I want to know if I made a smart purchase, or if I should revamp my purchasing knowledge.

Thanks again Buck! If you ever make it out here to Utah, I'm only an hour and a half south of your friend in Ogden. Half way or so between your friend and Moab. I would love to see you in action!

Yes Buck is fine. My name is Brian Buchanan but, I've been called Buck for 25 years since I first joined the Navy. Sailors have problems with words with more than one syllable so Buck I became...lol.

That's quite a funny story Buck. My name is Shawn Heaton. You must be close to my age. I'm 42. It's very nice to know you Buck. Maybe one of these days, I'll meet your friend that works at the airforce base. Is he out at Dugway proving grounds, or at Hill Air Force base? He's probably at Hill Air Force Base cause that's right outside of Ogden. People don't know there are hidden bases out here built inside of mountains. The two bases I just mentioned are well know, but I guarantee you there are more. The new so called area 51 is located here, but it's never talked about, except for those that know. I know it's here and where it is, but I don't know the official name and you can't visibly see it. It's one of the damn mountains west of Salt Lake City. The so called ground opens up and out comes whatever.

if you type in "salt lake city air force base dugway" in google it talks briefly about hidden bases close to me and your friend in Ogden. I don't have to guess, I see the stuff. Their flight patterns are too close to me. Sometimes you'll see what you think is a very small plane that blends in with the sky pretty well, and then it breaks up in to many many smaller pieces that you can barely detect due to slight reflections. There are others, but this is a Jeep forum. lol... I'll quite the unrelated stuff. it's pretty cool though.

I paid $7,000 for the Jeep. I think I got a fair deal. after I learn a lot more about Jeeps I'll purchase another one. There are quite a few out here to choose from. I just need to know exactly what I'm looking for before the next purchase.

Moab is great. I was there a week and a half ago with a Jeep buddy. It's only about a 4 hour trip down I-70 for me. Some advice for Moab? Bring extra U-Joints and straps. Very rough trails and although I've never personally busted one down there, it could easily happen. Some of the easy stock Jeep trails are White Rim and Long Canyon (although Pucker Pass is pretty tight). The area around Canyonlands is easier than Arches. Take plenty of water. Seriously, you'll have a blast. Moab is the best.

I tried to post some Moab pics, but the files were too big. I don't know why they won't let you post bigger pics. If anyone knows a good way around this, let me know.

Yes I am 42. I'll be 43 in 10 days. My buddy does work at Hill AFB. That is quite a story about the underground bases. I have always suspected. I had to deal with that hush hush super secret military crap for 24 years. I'm done with it now....lol.
