Wouldn't have been a waste if you had bump stopped properly lol can't say too much because mine came with the upcountry package so they were HD and all I did was spacer and shackle but I bumps topped mine properly though

If i had put more bumpstops i would have been riding on then cause the stress from the very extended shackles on stock springs. Stock as in non up country or HD springs. That was the past so i don't care much of my old setup no more. Just give people my experience so they can decide what route they wanna take. IMHO in someone wants lift then do a bastard pack. Done. If the need bushings and their current springs are older than them then get new HD springs and work from their.

Stock springs, I would agree and say do a bastard back but do a small shackle too(.5"-1" lift) helps the shackle angle too,
Now if you're lucky and have the upcountry lift and your spring still have good arch and such(like mine) a simple 1.5" shackle is fine. Bump stop properly and you would be good for a long time.

Okay, I'm so confused, everybody is always saying a longer shackle helps shackle angle, by no it doesn't it makes the angle more verticle.

Longer shackles make your angle worse unless you install shackle relocation brackets with them. They'll also accelerate the rate of breakage in your factory leaf springs and increase leteral movement, thereby making the rear end less stable.

My point exactly, but so many people say it helps.

That being said, a small lift shackle, will not change much. And I still say he springs and a 1inch shackle is a good plan for the Op

So a factory MJ shackle would be good then, since its only .5" longer than stock?

I'm probably going the route of HD springs with a 1" shackle. I'm going to run up to my friend (the guy who will be assisting (doing) the lift), and see if he thinks this is something we can actually tackle, and we'll get to go through what I should be doing for the front end as well. I can't decide if I should try and source coils that are around 2" longer, or just put coil spacers and call it a day. We'll also look into doing either JK shocks or legit aftermarket XJ shocks.

For what limited, easy trail riding I do back and fourth to fishing holes, I think the JK shocks should hold up fine.

Is there anything else I'm missing?

HD Springs
New U bolts (For the correct axle)
1" Shackles
New Coils/Coil spacers
Shocks
Plenty of kroil
