I'm going to put a two inch lift on my 2000 XJ and I'm not really interested in going any higher. I've been researching and have a few questions. I don't think I want to go the AAL route. My leaf springs aren't really sagging.
So first question is, would it be better to go with longer shackles or a shackle relocation kit? I guess I should ask, can a relocation kit be used to lift it 2"?
The other option I'm considering is getting the Old Man EMU 2" leaf springs and then adding some coil spacers. But, the coil spacers are only 1.75". Is the front of my jeep going to be way lower then the rear? I'm worried that it will take a while for the leaf springs to settle in at 2".

Blocks and extended shackle/shackle relocation are both bad ideas for the stock spring packs. They are simply too soft and worn to warrant the additional leverage and travel given by those methods of achieving height. They will work for a while, but soon you will likely find yourself with axle wrap issues and/or inverted leaf springs. I would reccomend an add a leaf, or better yet, a bastard pack, or even better, new 2" spring packs.

Thanks guys. I didn't really want to go the AAL because I don't want the ride to be stiff. Also, I heard blocks in the rear were a bad idea. Not sure I understood why they were, just that they were.
Will I need new shocks at only 2" of lift?

How much will the AAL stiffen up the ride?

generally blocks are frowned upon because they increase axle wrap.

For a budget boost they are fine since you're probably not going to be doing anything more that trail rides.

AAL has less impact on ride quality than shocks do.

I see where the Old Man EMU springs come in light, medium, and heavy. I won't do much towing or hauling. Every once in a while I'll tow my ATV out hunting. Which spring would best serve my needs?
Also, how are Rusty's front coil springs?

Get the 2" OME medium leaf pack, a 2" spacer for front springs, and some Bilstein shocks. Good to go.

I am looking to go up 2 or 2.5" also. Looking to start with the OME leafs, front spacers and new shocks. What is the best option the 2" leafs or 2.5" (would there be much difference as far as how level the jeep would be?) also MD vs HD?

From the research I've done, the 2" lift springs supposedly lift more then 2". I'm worried that the 2" spacers for the front will leave the front lower then the rear. I'm ok with it being a little lower but not a lot. I'm still looking for pics to see examples. I think most are going with the HD springs. I think I'm going to go with the medium springs as I don't tow or haul a lot.

I have the 2" pucks up front with the AAL in the rear, rides nice.

I want my Jeep to look just like PUCK's with the Moab wheels. What size rims/tires are those? I'm going to do the 2" spacers in front but I'm undecided about the rear lift. What are the AAL's people are talking about????? I was leaning toward new shackles.

Welcome to the forum, and the moabs are 16x8 with 245/70/16 tires, little less then 31". An AAL is an add a leaf. It helps rearc the rear springs for more lift. Typicly a harsher ride. I got lucky, mine rides nice and i have some flex....
