Looking for recommendations for good later model junk yard seats.
Don't care either way about leather, powered, heated. Fabing mounts not a problem. Just looking for a good fit in my 94 2dr and comfort for me.
Remember it's a 2dr so they need to tip forward.

94 and earlier seats don't have a lot of jy upgrades, unfortunately, especially for a 2 door. I had a 2 door with horrible, moldy seats with broken seat bases. What I did is buy the front and rear seats in good shape from someone parting out a 4 door. Then you can take apart the seats and use the 2 door seat frames with the new 4 door seat cushions and upholstery. The frames are totally compatible (except later models, avoid 95 and later seats they won't fit).

I've always wanted to put some late model TJ seats in mine (03-06 or so). The whole seat leans forward (mechanism is made into the tracks), and they're far more comfortable and better made IMO. Only issue i see about them is they may be too tall.. That and i cant find any.

The seats don't have to be from a xj. Could be from a Honda, Nissan, etc

Well then if you're willing to do a little fabbing to make them work.. You could really put any seats you want in your xj. I've seen durango seats, honda seats, grand cherokee seats, all kinds put in xjs.

I stumbled upon a response on another forum explaining that the frames of all Cherokee seats were the same and all I had to do was swap the upholstery and cushions and everything would work!
I followed this guide: http://www.4x4xplor.com/xj-seat-tilt.html to learn how to remove the upholstery.
And it did! Now I have a fully functional (flips forward) and leather interior in my project! :-) It was actually very easy once you figure everything out! :-)
Very pleased with the result. I'll upload a photo soon!

I must have been unclear! Sorry! I wanted to put the leather seats from a donor 4-door Limited into my project 2-door base without tampering with the electric motors and keeping the flip forward function to allow passengers to go into the rear.

We nearly have the same interior except I don't have the same rear windows but my back seat has head rests! :-)
And wouldn't you agree that the Bendix style seat belts look great with leather seats?? ;-)

I hope the leather lasts now that I have swapped it, I got the upholstery out of a well kept 92 Limited as well but the body has 310,000 miles so naturally they are slightly worn...
Good idea about the driver's flip choice, but I hate getting out to let people in, that's why I did both. But since people can't get out from your passenger side, doesn't that make them trapped if you don't want to let them out? lol
