All my pick up buddies are putting in whips. Most dont have CB's. I want a CB. Now the place ive been thinking about running some dual whips is the rear. And ive seen the mount that is held by a SINGLE screw on a older body style XJ. Does this hold/work/not break into a million pieces causing an nuke to go off in asia?
And yes. I do plan on building this myself. But. I like to learn from others misfortunes. And i laugh some times too.

Dual antennas need to be mounted about 10 foot apart to work right, but I sort of think from reading your post that maybe you're looking for looks more than function.

Function would be nice. I want to use a CB tho. Could i run 2 and only have 1 working? Yes I would ideally like it for looks. But if its not going to let the CB work. Then i guess Ill just run 1.

I don't know enough about CB's to try and answer any tuning or other tech related. I just know how to run a boring single antenna cheap cb lol
What do you mean whips? Are you saying they are putting in CB antennas, but not installing the CB? If that is true, considering your desire to install two antennas, with only one being functional, just for looks, can I assume your buddies are installing these antennas only for looks? Lol, we don't have anyone around here that does that, but we do have a few people that put fake electronic blow off valves on their cars.

FAKE???? No. As soon as i get the money i shall have a real blow off valve. I dont like fake. I do like looks.
They install 2 cb radio antennas in the bed of their trucks. By the cab. Does it look good? Yes. So i thought why not put it on the only real offroading vehicle in the group
No they use them. Never asked if they used both your not.

if you want function over form, just run a single antenna. duels are for large rigs where a single antennas wont radiate in a 360* pattern due to the large size of the rig +trailer. so they use duels to get the coverage. most duel setups have to be 1/4 wave apart (8.6') to function properly, if there any closer the signals will cancel each other out, hurting your performance substantially and your receive will suffer also.
IMHO if your gonna run duel antennas, slap on some curb feelers and dayton's on your XJ, hell paint a large cow on the side to complete the look.

1 has some how got it for radio. (dont ask me how.) 2 that use it for cb. 1 that uses it for some scanner thing. And the rest have them for looks. Me and a jeep buddy at school whose trying to build up his zj so he can go wheeling have decided we should get working CB radios. I want dual CB antenna whips because I want something different.

This is the correct info! I was into CB's back in their hay-day (1970's) and had many mobil and base set-ups, your best performance on an off-road rig will be a top loaded antenna and if your willing to get one long enough to be a foot or two above the top of your rig will greatly improve your performance, also get the antenna tuned to your CB and rig (adjust the SWR as close to 1:1 as possible)

alright thank you. As long as it wont screw up the signal or anything Ill do that. I am honestly trying to do something different. And if it doesnt look right ill just take it off. Thank you.
