Talking 05 f350 dana 60 into 98 xj ..

im looking to put my dana 60 i got from a 2005 f350 superduty. driver side axle is really short and looking for some advise on maybe a truss idea or ....

im trying to have the new axle in by next weekend. i was thinking of using ubolts and plate as a starting point from driver side so i have something to weld to besides the cast... any suggestions????

slow down.

that 60 is dumb. it has uber expensive unit bearings and is REAL short on the driver's side like you said. and its a balljoint 60 but whatever. you plan on just burning ubolt plates on? are you swapping to leafs up front? do you know wtf youre doing?

Do not bolt on u bolt plates cause they won't work. There is a reason people don't use those axles much. Most that do use coil overs so they don't have to worry about coil buckets and shock mounts. Only real option is to build it up and make your mounts high. Hope you know how to weld mild steel to cast as well cause you going to do a bit of it and if it doesn't hold the axle is going to spin causing a good bit of damage. Make sure you have a matching rear as well cause that's a metric axle and came in 2 different patterns in the super dutys and neither work with the more common 8x6.5 bolt pattern.

what i wanted to do is use a steel plate w/ u-bolts from driver side and weld a truss accross dif to passenger side so i did not have to weld to cast.

You'll need to weld both sides and skip the u bolts. The truss will need to be pretty tall to use coils and shocks.
