what does that do, besides rattle?

mine has keyless entry, and the black ball is the antenna for the remote. i still call it the hyperspeed button, if anyone asks me, though......

I was rear-ended by a Nissan and only lost a very small amount of paint, he on the other hand needs a whole new bumper minimum.

Love my Jeep!

Same here...
You know you drive an XJ when you will KILL someone for denting your dents with their door. Greatest. Thread. Ever.
Also when you can't help but mutter "It's the get stuck anywhere vehicle" ANY time you see an H2...
And when you almost cry every time you come home because someone down the street has a wrecked XJ, and you've offered to help fix it despite having almost no automotive knowledge... and also it doesn't have any parts you can use.

When you have a 68 Corvette in the garage, but you would rather be working on the XJ.

i just read 111 pages of it so that i wont be calling the mechanic every 5 minutes to get my jeep (i know....self maintenance....but i will explain)

my favorite one:
...you will take any opportunity to watch yourself drive by in the reflection of store windows, thinking about how badass you would think you were if you were watching you from in there

you know you drive an XJ when you've only owned it for a week and even though you have no mechanical experience you're planning an SYE install (even though i didnt know what it was 5 days ago)

you know you drive an XJ when you regret taking it to a shop for new brake pads and rotors, convinced that you could do it yourself with a bit of luck.

edit after talking to the mechanic:

you know you drive an xj when the mechanic says "this has been tore up pretty good" and you're still confident it will make a 100 mile journey.

You know you drive an XJ when you think "I can fix/do that, I have CherokeeForum if I screw it up..."

You know you drive an XJ when you slide sideways, take out a street sign, clip a building and rip the siding off with your front bumper, slide into a telephone pole, then clip the back end of a car and do very minor damage to that car and still think that everything on the XJ can still be fixed (I sure hope it can, I don't know what I would do if my XJ got totaled)

Do you have any pictures of the damage?
Even if they did total it, just buy it back and fix it yourself!
