YJ steering on XJ

I was looking at my father's YJ the other day and noticed it comes stock with the same inverted t setup that many swap to their XJ. I'm sure the YJ setup isn't as beefy as the 1 ton setup everyone swaps to, but it also looks like it could be a direct swap. Am I being overly optimistic? Has anyone went down this road before?

Its the same crappy hollow stuff the xj uses,Only oem upgrade is the zj v8 steering and its a little over 100 bucks at any auto parts store and bolts right on.
