Can someone tell me why I can buy a fully loaded ZJ or even a WJ for $2-3k less than a every day normal plain jane XJ sport. I even seen an ad on autotrader for a lifted and very clean and maintained ZJ for $4500. It just doesnt make sense that these fully loaded top of the line Jeeps are going cheaper than our XJ's. Especially since im in the market for my 4th XJ!!!!

I've been watching CL for jeeps the last few months and I noticed it too.
Seems the XJ's are going up in price, or just the owners are wishful thinking, or the cheaper ones are being scarfed up by deer hunters etc.
I've also noticed it seems the ZJ's are having more and more tranny issues. The V8 trannies are just not holding up like the 4.0/AW4 combo.
Most of the ZJ trannie issues seems to be in the 130k to 150k mileage range too.
I start a new job this week and I want to get the wife a nice Heep to be her DD and get her out of my XJ. I was maybe leaning towards the ZJ because they was nicer equipped plus because the prices seems to be dropping.

Did the ZJ come with an AW4? If so what year models? What kind of tranny problems are they having? What is the problem they're having in the rear axle? And all the ones that I have seen have been full time 4wd, did any come with a part time tcase? Sounds like I might just buy another "lowly" XJ.
