XJ vs LJ
I am going to ask an XJ forum the following looking to hear your opinions:
I currently own a 2001 XJ from TX that has only 94k miles and I built to go on all my Maine adventures like camping, hunting, fishing, exploring ect. I love this XJ and its spot free of rust. It has its usual XJ gremlins that pop up on the monthly but I have no car payments. See XJ below..
Last summer I sold a 2006 LJ that I built to a woman who did not know Jeeps much. I sold it with 52k miles. That LJ was also built to explore. However, it had a little rust on the fenders, needed a tummy tuck for wheelin, and had a second gear grind in the winter (crappy 6 spd trans). Long story short, the owner called me and said she's selling the LJ and gave me first refusal. She has only put 2k miles on it since she bought it and it spent the year in a garage. Question is: Should I sell the XJ and get back into my LJ?
To do that, I have a buyer for my XJ at $7450 and could steal my LJ back for $17k. So I would have to borrow $10k from the bank which is like $275 a month.
So, my XJ doesnt need anything major but I keep having gremlins pop up as to be expected with a vehicle that is almost old enough to buy cigarettes. I love going topless/doorless and driving stick tho.
Do you peeps think it'd be worth it or should I keep the XJ and let the LJ disappear? See rides below...

Drive what you like but the XJ can hold more gear for camping unless you get a 4 door LJ and the 6 cly in the LJ does not have the low end torque the XJ has .

You like owning the last model year Jeep it seems.
The TJ/LJ is prone to it's own set of gremlins. Either way you're at risk of all the things that can and often do go wrong.
Ultimately you have to decide what's right for you.

So after much thought and meaningful advice from many Jeeple, I have come to my conclusion: I am going to buy a Rav4! ...Not! I am going to keep my XJ and use this beauty for what I built it for. When I thought about all the time, blood, sweat, and beers I have into this rig (Sully) and it's extensive maintenance history I just cant let it go. More people than not say they regret selling or miss an XJ they had. It would be harder for me to find a clean well built XJ than a Wrangler or even LJ. Clean XJ's pull a premium one week before Race Wars.
That being said, I will save some money and maybe down the road pick up an early AX15 TJ.
I will let my LJ (Rosey) go down the road to a new home and maybe someone will get as much enjoyment as I did and have some fun exploring. Thank you all for your consideration and opinions.

If you want payments borrow $3000 instead and treat your XJ to some love. That thing looks awesome already but I’m sure there are some parts you could replace or something else to upgrade.
