What's the difference between xj and sport? or are they one in the same?

"XJ" is the type of jeep a Cherokee is. Its like the internal naming code. "Sport" is the name of a trim option for some cherokees. for instance my xj with leather seats and power locks is a "limited" but my other one with crappy seats and power locks is a "country".

A new Jeep wrangler would have the code "JK". thats not a joke...

Yeah but you can leave out the "xj" when talking to other people who know what a cherokee is.

Beware, if you just say jeep cherokee to a generic parts store employee, you will get the typical "grand or regular cherokee?"
