Default XJ oil filter housing o ring leaking

I just ordered the large o-ring for the oil filter housing which is leaking.
Does anyone know what size tool I need to remove the housing?

You will need a T-60 Torx bit, a wrench that fits the bit, and a cheater bar on the wrench to loosen it.

AND, there are THREE o-rings that need to be replaced, available in a kit for about $10 at the dealer.

Here's something from our write-up section:

Thanx for the info. I'll be sure to get the additional 0-rings before taking
it apart.

Ok, call me stupid, but, I only saw one o-ring in the write-up. And all the retail auto-parts stores say you only need one. Where are the other two?

Thanks Earl. I stole it.

To the OP, go to the dealer and get the kit.

in all fairness, odds are the other 2 orings don't even need replaced. I've done a few and the 2 on the bolt weren't damaged in any way, shape, or form.

but since it's apart anyway...change them all.

yeah, its kind of a "while its removed you might as well" thing

this is a very common repair, do some searching... you will find plenty of advice i promise..

i googled around and even read posts on other forums before i tackled mine, its no cake walk if you do not have the proper tools and technique i assure you

Those who can, do. Those who can't, sell auto parts.
