Would anyone buy bumpers like this...
I work for a welding outfit and times are tuff. Our primary job is working on the oil drilling rigs and their equipment but like everything else, it's slow and there's not a lot of work. While talking to the boss the other day I mentioned I was thinking about doing some bumpers for the guys on here like the one I built a while back. So here's what I built before and the new ones would be very similar...
It's not too fancy, but I like them that way. It fits high and tight for an awesome approach angle. It's made from 3x4x3/16 box tube.
Would probably replace the weld on shackles with clevis mounts made from 1/2" or 3/4" bar stock.
Could be had with or without the 2" receiver. I did it on mine so I could use a winch front or rear and I didn't like how far the winch bumpers stuck out.
The mounts would be more like these, made from 1/4" plate. My originals were made from some of the leftover 3x4x3/16 tubing that I split down the middle, because that's what I had laying around (before I started at the welding shop)
My boss and I really haven't got the price hammered out but I was thinking it will probably fall around 250, which seems to be a lot cheaper than most of the bumpers out there. There might be other options also like a stinger/grill guard ( I added one to mine later ) or a bolt on/weld on winch plate. I guess the most important thing is to see if there's any interest first so what do you guys think?

Actually yeah, I'm working on one for my 89 right now. Mine is going to be a bit of a pian tho because I have the factory rear tire carrier and I'm going to integrate it into my new bumper. We may wind up making all sorts of things for Jeeps if there is a demand. We have a full shop and a bunch or welders that aren't working right now.
