Default Working on a dirty rig

Am i the only one who absolutely HATES working on a muddy/dirty/greasy rig? I see all these build threads and posts of people working on their rigs covered in mud, caked grime near where they are welding, caked on clay in the cross member, the wheel wells, etc. Before i work on anything, It gets a complete pressure wash top to bottom, underneath, over, and grease cleaned off. Maybe its just a pet peeve, or perhaps its the couple of trips to the eye doctor for mud particles in my eye when i hit a stubborn bolt with an impact and a near vehicle burn down when i was grinding on a bumper and the grease overflow from the differential caught fire, but i absolutely hate working on a dirty/greasy vehicle.
Am i the only one???

You are not the only one. I learned my lesson in high school, trying to work on a mud and clay caked CJ-5. No more of that silliness. In fact, I hear the car wash calling my name this weekend before tackling the ball joints.

oh I've been through a lot. My jeeps nickname used to be the mean green mudding machine. Take it out almost every night I could then I just got tired of if and realized how annoying it was and how much better other trail riding was with rocks and technical parts and stuff. Also, I feel like mud is the worst thing you can probably do to a vehicle. All the grit and water shoved everywhere...

I like mud, i grew up in it(Western Oregon) but as soon as i get back to town, she gets the car wash! I havea rust free jeep, and prefer to keep it that way. Even just cruising mountain roads, your gonna get mud. its ineviteable. I see all these pictures of people wrenching on muddy greasy vehicles and it makes me cringe.

Mud is wheeling it just isn't rock crawling. They are two different things. I have fun mudding I but I have more fun rock crawling. I hate dirt and sand falling off the rig when I am working on it. I Hate sand in the eyes and mud on my face. I hit up the car wash after mudding.

Eeh, if it's really bad I'll clean it, otherwise I usually clean things after I get done working on it to get rid of all the greasy hand prints.

I pretty much gave up trying to stay clean while working on the Jeep, but that's just me

It does get washed regularly though, especially the undercarriage during the winter months.

I will also clean any area or parts I am working on. Especially when there are seals, bearing or mating surfaces involved.
