the new stuff they have rolled out is a disgrace to the JEEP badge in my opinion..Liberty, Patriot, Commander, etc... does anyone else agree??

my personal favorites-

Comanche- we had one growing up, still running in my home town, truck has close to 400k on it..

Cherokee- got one now- love it

HONCHO'S- just a bad -a- truck to me.

Wagoneers

ZJ's

CJ'S YJ'S- had one wish I never sold it.

and I know most of these were sold as Chryslers but it's not the same, maybe I am just getting old

I have a 06 KJ (Liberty) and its just as capable as a stock XJ.
There are plenty of people that wheel Libertys KJs and KK as well as some new GCs and Commanders.
You can even find some patriotrs and compasses out on the light trails.
But Jeep is just following the law of demand, producing SUVs that will sell.

I guess-

like I said maybe its just me getting old.. I feel like the newer models would not hold up like the older ones, just my opinion- my wife had a Liberty and it sure didn't

well, ive wheeled with alot of JK's and seen many preform very well at events like Jeep beach, and Jeeptoberfest.

only thing i dont like about them is the engine power. but, a hemi swap or supercharger will fix that

most people that buy a suv or a jeep will most likely never take it off road.. the suv and jeep market has vastly changed over the last 10 years. all good things have to come to a end.. dont give your hopes up tho. found this a few days ago.

chrysler purchased Jeep in 87 only a few years after the Cherokee was on the road. They maintained the XJ we love so much. If not for Chrysler Jeep may not even have held on this long. I personaly think they did a great job holding the brand and its design together for so long. Today Jeep keeps the Chrysler going and from the looks of things they are putting a lot more focus in the line. I just learned they have plans for a new Grand Wagoneer and have dumped the Commander. I imagine the compass wont be far behind and maybe even the patriot. The new GC is amazing but I can assure you that with what the market demands from its cars today there is nothing about the XJ from past that is marketable today. I look forward to what they will do with the brand in the future but I dont expect anything more. Plus a modern XJ will be nothing like what we love.

Now thats a machine. I like the semi old and old school

XJ's rule. By far THE most functional on or off road with less then a 1000. bucks you make it bad-aZZ. hell even stock. I love the way they ride and its in 2dr and 4dr.

The new stuff is awesome too. My sister has an 08 4dr JK Sahara.

The new GC is sweet lookin too,but its a luxerury muffin. I would never take it off road for the money they want for one. So i would just use it as a DD.

good points Ken but Chrysler kind of just let Jeep be what AMC made them into before overhauling the lineup all together, the biggest mistake I think was not building the Comanche in favor of the Dakota..I know the ones I mentioned are outdated and don't fit into todays marketing but when the Jeep products start looking like all other suv's then there is a problem to me-

I think we would be seeing similar results with any other owner of the brand. Even if it was still an AMC thing, they would have no choice but to change with the times to stay in business.

I agree, no company looks anything like it did 20 years ago but to the OP's point they could have done a better job.
