Wiring upgrade help
I already have four HUGE lights on my roof, and plan to add atleast a couple more lights throughout the jeep. Along with a new sound system, CB radios set up, and probably a bunch of other demanding electrical stuff. Before I do any of this i realize i need to be able to power all this stuff so I want to upgrade all the wires necessary, do a dual battery set up, and put in a stronger alternator. I already plan on getting my current alternator re-wound (good/bad idea?) or a completely new one. Ideally i want at least 160 amps. I know pretty much how to do a dual battery set up. I just need help upgrading my stock wires to the battery. I think its called the big 3. I wanna do 0 gauge and all new terminals. My question is, is there any other wires that will need upgrading along with the big 3, and also. I need to put inline fuses in, but where? Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks!

i had upgraded headlights, two pairs of hellas, a pair of rear facing aux lights, a CB, and a sub in my 93 with a wound up alt (~100A) and good battery.
lets assume 14.5v. one 55w light is a little under 4A, a decent sub amp pulls around 350W when you're pushing it so thats about 25A, a CB will be around 5A max. so with 4 lights a sub and CB youre not even at 50A. the stock alt in your XJ is 117A.

I'm assuming 110 watt lights. Two will draw about 20 amps. A cb will draw less than 2 amps while at idle, less than 4 when keyed, depending on the power output. A 350 watt sub will draw 30 amps or so, assuming it's cranked all the way up. (Remember the draw numbers are only when stuff it's active, not the idle amperage draw rates.)
This summer I went out chasing in my jeep, running a 45W radio that periodically beacons location data (it's a surplus radio so it's not overly efficient), a 50W vhf radio, 35W uhf radio, dayliters, and a 150W rotator bar...stock alternator, idled just fine. It would drop from 13.8V to 12.9V when all of the radio's were keyed with the light bar and kcs on.
