yeah iv heard its better to have street tires bc with the less amount of rubber actually on the road at all times with mud tires that you get less traction there for slip easier this true?

my BFG MTs were scary in the winter. i was about 2 feet from hitting the side of a house. i just put my stock tires and rims on for the rest of the winter. yeah it looked really dumb but it was much for controlable.

If you have AT's you will be alright...most people think mud terrains are great in snow and ice but they really suck

Muds are designed for off road. They're not great on rigs that are daily driven, and horrible in slippery road conditions. ATs are designed to be an all purpose tire and fine for on and mild off road conditions.

The only 4 wheel drive vehicle i've driven in the winter until now was my Dads Ford F-250 4x4 (just bought my Jeep in April), and that had Cooper Discoverer ATR's and I have to say those are amazing tires in the snow, never pack, and never slide even in deep offroad snow. I went the MT/AT hybrid route with tires (Cooper Discoverer S/T) so im curious (and excited) to see how ill do in the Jeep, especially with my rear Aussie-locker.

AT's are better for slippery conditions as they are usually siped (small cuts in tread). Mud tires typically do not have this (or much of it).
