I have had this oily, watery haze on the inside of my windshield for a while. I clean it with Windex & it's back the next day. If I run the defrost on the hot setting it comes back slowly. If it sits & the windshield gets cool, it will start fogging back up. What could be causing this? Did a Google search did not find a answer.
Yep, heater core replacement time. It's real interesting when they let loose and it's 5F outside. Trying to drive down the road scraping the ice off the inside of the windshield and it feels like your in a greenhouse...
BAM!! Called it.
Just kidding. Sorry for your troubles since that's probably what is wrong. I can't say how difficult it will be as I have never changed one in my jeep (not yet anyways).
Good luck to you

You'll have to pull the dash, do a search and you'll find a how to. I did it 2 years ago and it was tedious but do-able. beats the hell out of paying someone $800 in labor

Well, I was afraid that was the issue. I smelled antifreeze in the cab for a while & I either got use to it or it stopped. I'm guessing the former.
Pretty sure the thing was replaced before I purchased it 'cause under the front passenger seat the floor looked like it was soaked at one point. I guess it could have been a drink spilled in the floor or it was replaced with a cheap heater core.
What is a good replacement? I don't mind spending money on a good heater core instead of doing the job twice. I put a AutoZone HC in my MJ & it worked GREAT but I only had it a few years after doing the install.
Also, wouldn't breathing the antifreeze, over a period of months, make you sick?
Thank you for all the replies.

Material Safety Data Sheets show that repeated inhalation of antifreeze fumes may affect the central nervous system. Coma may occur if the inhaled antifreeze fumes were in mist form.
