will these limit flex?

Everybody calls them overload leaves. I am not sure where that terminology came from. This is a typical two stage spring. That flat leaf is the second stage. This is a spring that is made to ride smooth without a load and then become much stronger when more weight is placed on it, so it has two spring rates, a high and a low. And yes, it will limit flex compared to a single stage spring like the original XJ spring by limiting the up travel.

You can, but you would loose lift and also eventually ruin the spring. It would flex in the middle and give you a nice smooth ride. However it will also bend too much in the middle and loose its temper and then it would sag. You could substitute two curved leaves in its place and gain lift. It would also ride rougher.

Are those Dakota springs if so I would cut the eyes off of the top leaf and use the third leaf down and add them to your stock xj leaf pack...Dakota spring are way to stiff and will not flex very well...I tried it and really did not like it so I swap them around it worked for me and my brother in law....

Since they are lift springs I would leave them also...You don't wont the springs to arch back wards like the other people said.I say run them if you don't like it sell them and try something different.Good luck and safe wheeling and don't forget to pick up trash....
