Default Why answer question?

Not to be nosy, but why do mechanics answer all these questions? Is there a cash incentive? Are they parts reps? Why? Don't get me wrong, it's great! It's the best app on the iPhone! I don't think the search function works real well, but this site is awesome. Just wondering. And how do you know who really knows a correct answer and who's is just trying to be a know-it-all with halfass answers?

No why would you say that? I was just curious. It's a good thing going here. I figured it would be tedious answering the same questions over and over. This site has extended my jeeps life already. I wish I could find a site like this for my vw bus. My jeep and my bus are my tinker toys. Rock on, jeep thangs, rock on!

I offer advise and share some of my knowledge just to help out. I also point out when wrong information is given. If I don't know the answer I don't respond to the question, I also won't respond if somebody has beaten me to the correct answer. I just hate to see people throw parts at a vehicle and waste time and money, or follow bad advise and make things worse for the guy needing help. Do I know everything? Not even close. But I do have a lot of experience and training that I hope helps people out. If you would like to throw me a bone, I will take it. My PayPal is bust.....

That's what forums are for. Spreading knowledge, the only payment we get is more knowledge and the fact that we helped a fellow XJ owner. Without this site my friend's XJ would not be running right now because neither of us would have known what a crank position sensor does.

I will try to help out and return the favor. Do I know it all, Not even close. But theres alot of knowledge on this site and its awsome that people are willing to share it. I tryed a few other forums before finding this one. This by far is the best. I have very rarely seen someone get bashed for asking a ( dumb question ). And when people do start the bashing they get warned very quickly and its stopped. Other forums seem like thats what some people are on there to do. Its a jeep thing, Most people wont understand.

The only dumb question is the one that is not asked, and where to find a body lift for an XJ.

Its also the same reason some pull over when they see another jeep broken down on the road. Ive given up several spare parts to help people out, build connections and hope others do the same when i break down.

Try www.thesamba.com for your bus and sign up for thier forums. Its a really great site. My dad has been on that site for like 10 years and loves it, and they have endless information!
