My wife don't understand why I spend the whole day before washing, waxing and detailing my XJ before going on an offroading trip.I tell her it's because i like to take it looking sweet and leaving looking bad a$$.Does anyone else do this?

Haha That is awesome! i dont detail and wax, but i do wash it before i leave!

That way if something happens on the trail i am not having dirt fall on me every time i touch something. Plus like you said, Nothing looks better than showing up with a clean rig! then leaving with a bad A one.

Then i wash a couple days later because i like it semi clean, And arizona sun eats tires so i always keep the amor-all'd

Before??? Nope, I wash it after. And for all those tough guys who are going to chime in and say "it's a Jeep, it's supposed to be muddy", I got just one word for you all:

RUST

I wash before and after to get rid of any insects or plant seeds. As per Treadlightly you don't want transfer any noxious plants or insects where they don't belong.

I wash it before because I just love the way my XJ looks clean. In spring and summer must of the time my team and I meet at the beach and the way the poeple look at my clean rig feed my ego! ... and of course, after to keep the rust away from my XJ

Although I don't purposely wash or detail her before a run, I do tend to keep mine very clean in between trips so shes ussually clean at the start of the run. I get comments from people because shes so clean that she must be a pavement princess, although mine is my DD I do wheel her pretty good too.

Well since I am a girl, that is a completely useless comment .

Depends what you mean by "significant" damage. I wheel my Jeep technically. I try not to bash and destroy stuff all the time. Yes, I've broken lots of stuff over the years, but that has nothing to do with keeping it clean. And even with me being **** about that, after I swamped it about 2 months ago, ripped out the carpet and ... well, let's say some cutting, welding and sheet metal replacement was needed. I want to keep my Jeep for a while - no need to help mother nature eat it up one rust hole at a time.

I don't need significant body damage to wheel and have fun with it.I don't baby it and besides pin stripes there is only 2 very small dings on my rig.Except the rear bumper and hitch that I broke in 2 and ripped off the other day.
