Default Who all runs 35s with 3.55s offroad?

I'm curious how many users on here are running 35" tires on their xj with the auto trans and factory 3.55 gears offroad. How do you like how it performs in harsh terrain?

My recent trip to superlift offroad park running mainly class 3 trails it performed flawless. Climbed everything in its path with very little throttle input. Followed two modified rubicons the entire weekend with me having open diffs. I'm planning on locking the diffs and venturing into harder territory next trip but I'm worried the stock gear sets may hinder me. I need some first had opinions from the guys running this setup. I know there are some of you out there.

Yes i know these things are a dog on the street with this setup so don't turn this into one of those threads lol. This threads is meant for offroad only situations.

Mine went anywhere I wanted it to on 35's and 3.55's, especially in low range.

Im guessing those are swampers? So alot heavier than an average 35" radial as well.

By the way to those reading its not the point that im trying to cheap out by not regearing and keep the 3.55s. Im intertested in keeping that extra strength in the pinion gear of my d30 especially considering i have a low pinion. The pinion gear for 4.56s is half the size of the 3.55. Plus ive got to get some one to teach me to do the gearsets. Im not paying someone to do the install then breaking it and having to pay someone to do it again. I need to be able to repair it.

pretty lame excuse. out of many installs I have done for club members and the shop I work at has done I have seen one with a pinion gear issue. yes they are smaller but I bet you will strip ring gear teeth before you do in the pinion gear. stripping ring gear teeth is much more common.

joking aside ive ran 36'' sx's on 3.55 and its was weak. In low it would get around. If you feel like it isnt enough for you with that gear ratio them before gearing it you should be looking into other axles. 35's on stock jeep axles will only last so long depending on the type of wheeling you do. Run it like that for a while and save up for better axles. Oh and BTW with those 36's i sheared all the teeth off of my pinion.
