I've seen a lot of antennas mounted to the body. I'm thinking of mounting mine to the end side of my bumper. It comes up to near the top of body. I'd rather not drill holes in the body, do you guys think that it will be high enough to have decent range or a foot higher is worth it?
I drilled a hole in my one of my rear bumper end caps and my spring sits inside of it (so that the mounting point would be on the metal bumper) and it gets me enough signal for trails.

also cobra makes the cobra 19 dx IV, anyone using this and reccomend it? its their compact model, i have an 89 xj, and im thinking it will fit in the dash where my ashtray is, ( i dont smoke so i dont need it right?)
