Looking into a C-Roc rear bumper and tire carrier. Any advantage of rear carrier vs just throwing it on top and securing it other than being able to store other stuff on rack. What do you use?

I tried my 33" on a tire hitch, hated it because of less clearance and could not see anything. On the roof it was in the way again when trying to drive under fallen trees. Best spot is over my gas tank, but I don't store much in my weekend beater.

Edit::. Meant spare is in the trunk area.

Mine is on the trailer. LOL

Not a fan of up top, changes center of gravity way to much.

Got mine up top on the stock roof rails, secured with a home made bolt/wingnut deal I came up with. I was at the junk yard today and saw a 1990 XJ with a swing out rear tire carrier I wanted to get, but it was brand new to the yard and hadn't been put out yet so the guy wouldn't let me get it. Hopefully when they put it out I will be the first one to it...

Normally tied in the back for daily. If I trip pack it goes up on the rack.

Exact same for me. Up on the roof gets in the way and just more tippy. On the back hangs up everywhere.

So its where my rear seat used to be.

I fit my 235/75R15 spare in the stock location. I hear that up to a 30" tire will fit there.

Tire is to big for stock location. I will be doing some wheeling but also hunting so I need cargo space.

For those worried about tipsiness when the tire is on top, one way to combat the feeling of flipping when wheeling is to guide yourself up obstacles with your winch so you won't go anywhere.

I still have my stock spare in the stock position. Lol.

Put mine in cargo area or roof rack.
But mostly it stays in the garage.
The donut spare tires are great for doing burnouts until they explode.
