The Peep started life as a city slicker in the big smoke, Toronto. Stolen shortly therafter and recovered. The 1st owner installed an alarm system. The second owner disabled it. Talk about a nightmare snakes nest of wires. It runs so I'm afraid to touch that ball of yarn. The 3rd owner, gramma and the kids, talk about lollipops melted inside the console. Then back to gramma's mentally challenged son for some torture tests. Finally to my customer as a Rock Quarry work jeep. So one day he asks me, anyone want to but a jeep? I pick it up with trailer at hunting camp in backwoods up the penninsula. Over an hour underneath with the power washer removing the quarry silt. Then sits behind my shop for almost a year, lifted it out of the snow with the tractor and dangled it off the hitch. Dragged onto the hoist for a complete driveline rebuild (all seals and all bearings), brakes, tires, springs, shocks, all steering linkages, balljoints, rear main and rocker cover seals, new oil pan, lower panels and doors body work, about a months part time work. All fluids changed out. Oil pressure is excellent so the original 4.0 and AW4 having 316000km on the clock start a new life in a jeep lovin home (rollin over 531000 today). Still going strong daily with consistant maintenance and equipment upgrades. Another 90 Cherokee waiting in the wings. An 89 Comanchee sits back there also and may be the next to be dragged in for a resto.

My first XJ I saw at my relatives repo dealership and made a HUGE mistake doing that. They ripped me off worse then anything I could ever believe or want to believe, had that one a month before I ditched it and got my 99 at a dealership. Then got my 98 through a friend after I found out he was trying to get rid of his 5-speed cherokee (What I had been looking for for a very long time) and bought that for $200. That one and the 99 was The two best Jeeps I've ever owned. I then picked my 97 up off of craigslist and put a bunch of money into it already and still have to put more into it but it is what I've always wanted to two exceptions, Its not a five speed and it dosent have vent windows but it is a two door and it has the towing and up country package

Sorry that's 531000 km, about 330000 miles. Never touched the internals. Still runs 45 psi or better oil pressure at road speed, 25 psi at low idle. Clocks about 150 miles per day all weather conditions, hence monthly oil/filter servicing, yearly brakes and drive system bearings/seals work.

Went to look at a 89 2Door xj put it on the rack and it looked like a nuke went off underneath. The mechanic said his daughter was selling a 98 xj. She came up 15 minutes after the 89 left shop and I left with her 98 with 180000 mi and a 2in lift for $3000

I bought my 98 Cherokee Sport off of Kijiji, located about an hour away. It was only the 4th Jeep I looked at (2 were Wranglers), and he dropped the price before I could even offer as apparently 357,000KM is too much for people around my area no one wanted it (CF made me realize that's not a lot lol).. so went from $1800 to $1200
