Default When do Cherokee Sport transmissions typically die?

Lots of talk of XJ's going to 200k+ miles, but when do the tranny's generally go? For one's just driven on roads, that is.

with upkeep they will go 300k plus

best thing you can do to any transmission is a cooler

heat is a huge problem from them

Approx. what would an indy mechanic charge to install one?
Is that a reasonable driveway DIY? Got a link to a DIY/parts/costs?

assuming its a aw4.....you can get them on craigslist for cheap...around here they are 150-300 dollars for a used one


i never installed a trans before...but you might be able to find someone to bolt it up for a few hundred dollars cash and a case of beer

my trans died at about 112,000 miles the damn cedar lake In rednecks beat it up pretty bad and they jewed me on it too but thats why i am on here learning about my jeep but now i just fif a fulid and filter change and it has about 18,000 on the rebuilt one and it cost me 1200 to get rebuilt

they are pretty stout, keep em' cool and most will never have an issue.

Looks like you reroute existing tranny lines thru this thing.
Somehow, just need to zip tie this thing behind the grille?
I am sure there are DIY's posted.
