How practical are they and are they worth the money?

 

Just get new rims with better offset. Spacers will put more stress on your jeep then rims will.

If wheels with different offset and spacers both move the tire outwards, how are they different? Don't they both do the same exact thing? Not arguing, just can't understand the difference.

 

only thing i can think of is it adds another wheel mounting surface further away from the hub. adding a weak point, and giving more stress to the unit bearing.
they work in a pinch, but rims with proper backspacing will do a better job without the fear of anything coming loose while booking down the highway.

plus the cost of spacers is damn near the full cost of each rim.
i got my brand new 767's for 80 bucks a rim. how much do spacers cost... and my beadlocks weren't much more.

 

How do I know why rims to buy? You know, to give me the same effect as wheel spacers?

 

Reason why I asked, I just got 4 R.C. 1.75" spacers from their scratch and dent store for $119.00 shipped, and cheapest wheels I found were $59.00 each with no centercaps.

 

You need to look for backspacing, which is the distance from the back of the rim to where it mounts on your rig.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe stock Backspacing is 4.5"

To have the same effect as spacers you would want to have a smaller backspacing, to push the tire away from the body

How can I tell what the back spacing is on the wheel I would purchase? Just research?

 

Just measure the backspacing get a ruler and a yard stick

Place the yard stick over the mount-side outermost part of the rim, then take the ruler an measure to the middle where it mounts to you spokes, look at the ruler and bingo, u have backspacing
