I have to stop my 33x12.5s from rubbing when I do sharp turns. I'm iffy on spacers, but someone in another thread of mine mentioned adapters. I did a quick search, and am not sure where the best place to buy would be. I saw Quadratec, and that was the only place I recognized. Would that be fine? Also, is a pair about $100 or can the $80 ones work just as well? I also am unsure on if 1.25 will be enough, or if I should go with the 1.5''.


Someone also mentioned adjusting my stops. Would that be a better method?

I dont like adjusting the stops because you lose turning radius, but if you just need to get by you can do it. Personally if you got the cash Id just get new rims with the proper backspacing. But if you insist on running spacers I wouldnt go with anything other than spidertrax. They are about $100 a pair but I have never had problems with mines and I wheel mines a lot. Ive seen cheaper ones crack from just driving on the road.

Assuming a stock wheel on your rig (5.5" B.S) your effective offset will be 4-4.25" using either of these:

I dont have any pictures but when I took autotech in HS we had a dodge charger come in that had the adapters to run a different size rim. The adapter evidently came off ebay but one of them had a crack going down it. 2 of the other adapters had sheered off studs from having cheap studs in them. Not saying that all spacers are bad just saying that Id stay away from anything cheap from ebay, but Ive ran spidertrax without problems and know several other offroaders who run them. I would also put some of the blame on the broken studs on overtightening the lugs, but the ones that came into the shop were def cheap chinese garbage studs.

How do I find out my backspacing? My rims are 15x8.5, if that helps at all. I rubbed a little with my 31s, but I trimmed my fenders and eliminated that. Then I only rubbed slightly at full turn with my other set of 33s. And would a wheel adapter be more reliable, or is that pretty much the same thing? I don't want to change my lug pattern, so..


Those look good. Both links are the same. Was one of them a different size? 1.5'' would be more than enough for me, right?

I must say I do my fair share of wheeling and I have been running 2'' spacers I paid $135 for off ebay for over two years now with absolutly no problems. So if you don't have money for rims I say run adaptor/spacers.

Its one of my buddies on facebook. Im not sure what kind but yes they broke as he was pulling into the parking lot.

Im sorry, but I call BS on that... I would bet that this was caused by misuse or incorrect installation! I have sold 100's of "no name" spacer/adapters as well as name brand and never have had a failure...and they are on kit cars, hot rods, circle track cars, off road vehicles, etc...
The most common failure is broken studs, but thats from over/under torque! Just my .02...

Could be the case, but either way if he had rims with proper backspacing there would be no need to run spacers and this would have never happened. I have a bunch of friends that run spacers and have never had any issues with them, but to me spacers are not worth the headache if you do run into issues.

Well I'm more or less SOL unless I go with a set of spacers/adapters. I can't get new rims with proper backspacing and I don't really want to lower my turning radius. My only option appears to be spacers.
